RESPONSIBILITIES
Our office maintains maps of the county, ownership and valuation records of each property in the county. By Kansas statute our office is responsible for the valuation of all property in Wichita County, which includes real estate, personal property, oil and gas. Please contact our office with any questions you may have about your property.

REAL ESTATE
January 1, is the assessment date. (KSA 79-1455)

March 1, County appraiser notifies taxpayers of value and classification of real property. Tax payer has 30 days from date County mailed notice to appeal valuation. (KSA 79-1460)

May 20, County appraiser to provide final valuation.

PERSONAL PROPERTY
January 1, is the assessment date
(KSA 79-301 & KSA 79-1455)

March 15, is the deadline for taxpayers to report all taxable personal property that they owned or that is in their possession on the assessment date. Late filing penalties will be applied after this date. This report should be signed by owner or authorized agent of the property and submitted to the appraiser’s office. (KSA 79-306)

April 1, is the deadline for taxpayers to report oil and gas propertities, signed by owner or authorized agent to the county appraiser (KSA 79-322A)

May 1, is the deadline for the county appraiser to notify taxpayers of the value and classification of personal property, including oil and gas. (KSA 79-1460)
